The FOREVER LEGAL Internship Academy was never intended to be an ordinary internship program. It was designed for individuals who understand that success is built through preparation, accountability, professionalism, and a willingness to be challenged. Each semester, Academy participants are entrusted with meaningful work, exposed to the realities of the legal profession, and encouraged to develop the habits that separate professionals from spectators. Designed for ambitious pre-law students, recent graduates, and aspiring law school applicants, the Academy serves as a professional readiness program that bridges the gap between academic learning and real-world experience. Of course, we could tell you what makes the Academy different. Instead, we asked the people who experienced it firsthand. To help future applicants better understand the program, we asked our interns a series of questions about their experience, including what they learned, what challenged them, what surprised them, and what advice they would give to those considering the Academy in the future. The responses that follow provide an honest look into the expectations, opportunities, growth, and realities of the FOREVER LEGAL Internship Academy through the voices of the interns themselves.

INSIDE THE ACADEMY: AMYRIA’S PERSPECTIVE.
How has this program changed the way you think about law or business?
This program changed the way I think about law and business because I now understand how connected they really are. Before, I thought law was mostly just about courtrooms. Now I see that law is part of everyday decisions, contracts, and how businesses operate. It also showed me that communication, organization, and critical thinking are just as important as knowing legal rules. Overall, it made the field feel more practical and real to me.
What surprised you most about the program?
What surprised me most about the program was how interactive and engaging it was. I expected it to feel more like lectures, but we were constantly involved in discussions and activities. I also did not expect the guest speakers to be so open about their personal experiences and advice. They gave real insight into what the legal field is actually like. That made the whole experience more meaningful than I expected.
What was different from what you expected?
What was different from what I expected was how much focus there was on mindset and professionalism. I thought we would mostly be learning legal concepts and terms. Instead, we also worked on how to communicate, prepare for job interviews, carry ourselves, and think like professionals. It felt more like real preparation for a career rather than just a class or internship.
What was your favorite experience and why?
My favorite experience was Attorney A’rencia Mumford’s presentation because it felt very real and relatable. She talked about how important your circle is in law school and how the people around you can affect your success. That stood out to me because it is not something you always hear explained in a professional setting. It made me think more carefully about who I allow in my environment and how they influence my goals. Her advice felt honest and is something I will genuinely apply moving forward.
How has this program prepared you for your future career?
This program has helped me feel more prepared for my future career by improving my confidence and communication skills. Interacting with clients and sitting in on the presentations helped me learn a lot when it comes to communicating and being more comfortable in the legal field. It also helped me understand what professionalism looks like in real settings. Overall, it gave me skills that I know will carry into my career.
What is one thing you now understand about the legal field that you didn’t before?
One thing I now understand about the legal field is that a lot of the work happens outside of courtrooms. I used to think it was mostly about trials and arguments, but there is much more planning, writing, and communication involved. Attention to detail is extremely important because small things can make a big difference. I also learned that relationships and networking play a big role in success. The field is more about outside preparation and planning than I realized.
What makes FOREVER LEGAL Internship Academy different from other programs?
FOREVER LEGAL Internship Academy is different because it focuses on real experience instead of just information. We are not just sitting and taking notes; we are actually participating and applying what we learn. The guest speakers also share honest advice from their careers, which makes it feel more real. The program pushes you to think and act like a professional early on. It feels more like preparation for the real world than a typical academic program.
You should apply to FOREVER LEGAL Internship Academy if…
You should apply to FOREVER LEGAL Internship Academy if you are willing to learn and grow outside your comfort zone. It is a good fit for people who are interested in law, business, or professional careers. You should also be open to participating, speaking up, and working with others. The program is very helpful and designed for people who want to develop real skills and a mindset.
Before this program I thought, now I think…
Before this program I thought law was mostly about court cases and lawyers arguing in front of judges. Now I think it is much more than that and involves communication, planning, and problem solving in many areas of life. I did not realize how much preparation happens behind the scenes before anything reaches a courtroom. I also see how connected law is to business and everyday situations. It changed my perspective on what the field actually looks like.
What should future applicants know before entering the program?
Future applicants should know that this program requires effort and participation. It is not something you can go through passively and still get a lot out of. You will be expected to speak, engage, and think critically. It may feel uncomfortable at times, but that is part of the learning process. If you stay open and committed, it is a very valuable experience.
